How to plant bulbs the right way
Garden tip: plant most bulbs in autumn while the soil is still warm but the heat has passed. Make the hole, place the bulb pointy side up, then backfill with loose soil.
- Tulips & daffodils – about 2–3 bulb-heights deep
- Crocuses – a little shallower, especially in light soil
- Hyacinths – slightly deeper; in heavy soil add a thin layer of sand for better drainage
- Firm the soil gently and water after planting
