Insulating foam adhesive tape will protect polyethylene covers from hot spots, preventing heat deterioration of the material. The adhesive tape is designed to provide protection from hots spots; greenhouse frame must be covered in tape in places where the polyethylene cover is in direct contact with the greenhouse frame construction. Adhesive tape provides a protective barrier between the greenhouse frame and polyethylene cover. The slippery surface of the tape allows the cover to slide over the frame without any friction, thus allowing to avoid tearing the cover during installation. Always use foam adhesive tape for protection against hot spots when installing a tunnel greenhouse.
By covering steel frame of the greenhouse with a foam adhesive tape for protection against hot spots, you will increase service life of the greenhouse cover for at least a season , and this is exactly why the polyethylene cover manufacturers including this advice in warranty conditions.
Do not stick the adhesive tape on moist material! Make sure that the surface is clean from dirt, sand, oil, etc. Do not stick the adhesive tape to the frame if the air temperature is below 10 degrees Celsius.
