The lid of the fire pit will be useful for when you are not using it to avoid precipitation. The lid can be used for extinguishing the fire and it will prevent tree leaves from falling into the fire pit. After putting on the lid you will not have to worry about sparks and a spontaneous ignition of the fire pit.
The lid will also prolong the lifetime of the fire pit bowl because ashes create a chemical reaction with water (ashes are an alkali) which promotes the formation of rust.
The heavy lid will stay in place even when the wind blows, and you can also use it to extinguish the remaining flames and embers when you want to go inside and leave the fire bowl. With the sturdy lid in place, you can feel safe knowing no sparks will fly, and the fire will not rekindle.
