If you do not have a greenhouse, you can use a hotbed at the end of March to plant early vegetable seedlings (spinach, radish, onions, dill, summer flower seedlings cucumbers, squash, pumpkin and so on).
At the beginning of April, the hotbed can be used on sorrel or rhubarb garden beds.
There are several types of hotbeds, however experienced gardeners call the tunnel-shaped hotbeds the best.
The best hotbed width is 1.20 meters with a length between 6 and 10 meters. Height of the hotbed depends on the desired type of use: if you plan to grow only seedlings, then a 50-70 cm hotbed will suffice, but if you plan to grow tomatoes and paprika, your hotbed should be at least one meter high. The higher the hotbed, the better the microclimate. Larger hotbed means slower temperature changes, however, you will need ventilation in any case.
It is very important for the hotbed to be in the sun during the day. Avoid placing hotbeds in shadowy areas. If possible, place hotbed with one side facing south.
Hotbed can be easily and conveniently installed everywhere or moved to any other spot.
It is important to note that a hotbed will cost you significantly less than installing a greenhouse.
